I've heard it is possible to capture corvettes (M6s). Is it true?

Yes, but only in assassination missions. You can't capture the ship belonging to your assassination target, but you can occasionally capture one of his escorts. This means the mission has to include two or more corvettes in the target group, and that only starts happening once you reach the Admiral combat rank.
